Since I came home, people have been asking me if it´s been hard, traveling like this. I always say it´s really easy, in Europe atleast. It doesn´t have to mean you take advantage of someone, which many people assume, but that you can manage really cheap throughout EU if you want to. Ofcourse it´s different for people from different countries, cultures even. Different demands on Visa, different prejudices. But it is doable.

No, traveling and surviving like this haven´t been hard. It´s been the easy part. Hitchhiking, no biggy. Finding a place to stay, somewhat difficult if you´re in the last minute. Food, there´s a lot for those who´s not afraid to be bold or get their hands dirty... or their pride a little bruised.

No. The difficult part isn´t the surviving part... but the social part, of it.

It has been difficult, not to survive, but to spend all the hours of everyday with the same person, whithout avoiding conflict. It has been difficult, annoying, exhausting, hurting... and even though there is lot of love involved, human relations never work perfectly...

So yes, it has been hard. Really hard sometimes. Maybe we all needed a brake...
Yes. we all do. Sometimes... and that has been the hardest.

/Jenny

So we made it to Milaan!

We made it to our first hitch hiking stop in Genova at about 9:30 this morning. When we got there, we realized that this spot was directly in front of a police station. We dont have the best luck with hitch hiking and the Italian Police on this trip, so we were a little sketchy about the spot. But, our expert hitch hiker friend Elena assured us that this was the best place, so we trusted her judgment. About 20 minutes later our first car pulled over, and Italian man named Geovani. We managed to speak a considerable amount of english/italian with him, and he drove us about 40km to a petrol station near a town called Busalla. This was the first time we had been somewhere where snow covered everything, and it was freezing cold! Before we said goodbye, he took us into the Cafe and bought us each a cup of expresso to keep us moving.

Not long after, we got a ride from a girl named Stephany. She drove us the rest of the way, all the way into the city. She left us where we are now, at a macdonals (of course) where we are couch surfing and looking for a host for tonight!

We are hoping to stay the weekend and then move another 250km to Venace on monday.

wish us luck!

-Liam.

... after 4 months, 24 days, 15 hours and 35 minutes of doing the world for free, for me it has now come to an end.

In one and a half hour a train will leave from Genova, taking me all the way to Milan, Bergamo where a flight is waiting to take me back home.

For many different, personal, reasons I can no longer continue this journey, and I need to go back to sort things out at home.

Yesterday was a sad day, and soon it will be even more so. I dont wish to leave, but now there is nothing I can do but this.

I´ve had a great journey, and we all know now it can be done - nothing is impossible!

I therefor now, sadly, must say Goodbye. Thank you all for these great experiences: I´ll go home richer than I ever was.

Love you all
Jenny

Ps. Im so sorry guys... I will miss you more than anything, and it brakes my heart to leave... but I hope you the best, and keep on going! Love you...

Hey people, if you missed it our next goal is actually Venice, but you never know where we will end up next. So far we had a hard time in Italy, even if we wanted to go just 50 km, so the hitchhiking we have in front of us is about 400 km, so if you don't hear anything from us don't worry we probably sleeping in a weird place or something like that. You can see the shortest way to get there from Google maps below!

Visa större karta

Anyway, we (at least I am) prepared for the worse and I think we might sleep outside tomorrow night, but who knows we might get some luck since its Liams birthday! Wahaha! So, dont forget to say happy birthday to Liam and we talk to you as soon as we get wifi again!

Have as much fun as we have... since we have fun even when everything is messed up!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY little man!

In about six hours he will spend his first hours on this big day by attempting to hitchhike to Venice... so I hope the Gods are smiling at us, and that many beautiful and nice things will make this day a memorable one.
